Greg Vassie, PharmD

Greg Vassie is a third-generation pharmacist who turned a deep belief in community pharmacy into a career building the clinical models that define what independent pharmacy can become. A PharmD graduate of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, undergraduate focus on business and accounting, and investor - a combination that has shaped his approach to pharmacy as both a clinical discipline and a viable business model worth fighting for.

After graduating, Greg worked in long-term care, medical writing, and sales/marketing for a pharmaceutical company before opening his first independent pharmacy in Pittsboro, North Carolina, where he still lives with his wife and 2 sons. He went on to open additional pharmacies across the state, partnering with pharmacists who understood the specific clinical and community needs of their neighborhoods. That network became the foundation for IndyCare Health, which he co-founded to bring medical services and community-specific solutions into the brick-and-mortar pharmacy.

When IndyCare merged with Truentity Health in 2024, Greg joined as Chief Strategy Officer, bringing with him the clinical relationships, operational credibility, and on-the-ground pharmacy knowledge that make Truentity's platform work in the real world. He has published peer-reviewed research on community pharmacy's role in North Carolina senior care, and has been recognized by UNC Eshelman as a distinguished alumnus. Greg leverages technological advancement and consumer trends to maximize the competitive advantages of modern pharmacy — a philosophy he shared during his Kohn Lectureship. He actively advocates for and gives back to the profession serving as Treasurer/Vice Chair on the UNC Eshelman Foundation Board, Lead Luminary for CPESN NC, and a UNC advisor for NCPA Student Business Plans. He continually invests his time mentoring students, training pharmacists, and promoting clinical pharmacy technicians.
