Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), recently outlined a strategy for rural healthcare that mirrors the exact mission we are executing at Truentity Health. His directive was clear: we must stop running from technology and instead use it to “allow professionals to function at the height of their licensure”.
Dr. Oz highlighted a statistic that drives our work every day: 95% of Americans live within five miles of a pharmacy. In rural America, where 60 million people often lack access to doctors, the local pharmacist is often the only available provider. He argued that if we leverage AI to help pharmacists function at a higher level, that alone is a massive opportunity for the healthcare system.
Empowering Pharmacists Through RHTP
This is precisely what we are doing through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). As Dr. Oz envisions, we are deploying our Aora Intelligence (AI)layer to turn independent pharmacies into “AI-powered clinical hubs”.
We aren’t just asking pharmacists to fill scripts; we are giving them the clinical infrastructure to manage chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes. By enabling pharmacists to practice at the top of their license, we are bringing daily care to the “care deserts” and fulfilling the promise of the RHTP.
The infrastructure Dr. Oz is calling for isn’t a future concept – it is the solution we are building today.
If your state is designing or refining its RHTP initiatives, we can help shape a pharmacy centered chronic care model that delivers early wins and long term sustainability.
